Product Description

High quantities of carbon, manganese, and iron make up the alloy known as high carbon ferro manganese. In the steel industry, it is primarily utilised as an alloying agent to improve the characteristics of steel.

As a ferrous and non-ferrous metal, high carbon ferro manganese has the following salient characteristics:

Iron Metal:

1. Contains a lot of carbon Typically, ferro manganese comprises 70-80% manganese, 6%-8% carbon, while the remainder is made up of iron and trace elements. Depending on particular requirements, the precise composition may change.

2. High Carbon Ferro Manganese is used as an alloying agent in the manufacture of steel. Strength, hardness, and wear resistance of steel are all improved mechanically.

3. Carbon Content: Steel's overall strength and ability to harden are influenced by the high carbon content of high carbon ferro manganese. Steel may be heat-treated more effectively with carbon added, which makes it appropriate for applications that call for great strength and hardness.

4. Manganese Content: Steel with a high manganese content, such as High Carbon Ferro Manganese, offers better strength, hardness, and wear resistance. Additionally, manganese contributes to the development of austenite, a stable phase that improves the mechanical properties of steel.

Metallic Non-Ferrous:

1. Limited Non-Ferrous Applications: High Carbon Ferro Manganese has certain limited uses in non-ferrous metal alloys, despite being largely employed as a ferrous alloy.

2. Nodularizing Agent: High Carbon Ferro Manganese can be used to produce ductile iron, also referred to as nodular or spheroidal graphite iron, in non-ferrous applications. In the iron, it encourages the growth of graphite nodules, increasing its ductility and impact resistance.

3. High Carbon Ferro Manganese is a trace element that can add modest amounts of manganese to non-ferrous alloys like aluminium alloys. The strength and corrosion resistance of the alloy can be enhanced by manganese.

While High Carbon Ferro Manganese can have a few applications in non-ferrous metal alloys, its main use and significance are in the steel industry as a ferrous alloying agent. This is vital to keep in mind.
